雨あがりや水まきの時、虹を見つけるとなんとも素敵な気分になります。刹那的で魅力ある虹が何かのかたちで表現できればよいと思いました。
アイザック・ニュートン(1642-1727)は虹を七色としました。プリズムを使えば光を分散することは簡単です。緑色にみえる波長はおよそ500-565nmです。それぞれの色がどの位の波長か見当をつけて定義しています。では実際の虹はどうでしょう。何となく七色に分けることが出来たと思っていますが無段階なグラデーションです。科学の眼でみたとき色を数値で表せることは意味のあることです。表現としてはどうでしょう。きれいに分光するさまにそれ以上の価値は見出せないのではないかと思います。
スペクトラムとは曖昧な境界を持ちながら連続していることです。レインボーフラッグは多様な存在を表すこととしてLGBTQ+の象徴です。また、自閉症スペクトラムと云うように、そのあり様の多様さを表します。
lux-spectrumシリーズは、太陽光を分光して写真の手法で定着します。いわゆる虹色の再現は可能ですが、あなた自身の目でみた実際の虹、移ろいゆく虹にはかないません。予測した虹色とは違うものが表出したとき、そのイレギュラーがどのような原因であろうとも、７色に区分けされたイミテーションとは違う「それそのものの存在」を感じます。
When I find a rainbow after it rains or when I am sprinkling water, I feel wonderful. I thought it would be nice if I could express the ephemeral and attractive rainbow in some way.
Isaac Newton (1642-1727) described the rainbow as having seven colors. It is easy to disperse the colors by using a prism. The wavelength of light that appears green is about 500-565nm. We have a good idea of the wavelength of each color has. But what about the actual rainbow? We think that we can divide the rainbow into seven colors, but it is a gradual process. From a scientific point of view, it is meaningful to be able to express colors numerically. How about as an expression? I don’t think we can find the above value of the beautiful spectra.
Spectrum is a continuum with ambiguous boundaries. The rainbow flag is a symbol of the LGBTQ+ as it represents the diversity of existence. It also represents the diversity of the autism spectrum.
The lux-spectrum series uses a photographic technique to fix sunlight by using a spectroscopy.It is possible to reproduce the rainbow colors, but it is not as good as the actual rainbow you see with your own eyes.
When something appears different from the predicted rainbow colors, no matter what the cause of the irregularity, we feel the “existence of the rainbow itself,” which is different from the imitation divided into seven colors.

「lux」とはラテン語で光を表し、物理現象としての光、人の心の暗闇を消す希望のひかりを意味する。
「spectrum」とはスペクトル、残像を意味する。ラテン語specere（見る）の派生で「像」、原義では「見えるもの」「現れるもの」という意味がある。spectare「予期しないで出現するもの」。
Spectrumは太陽を定着したイメージ。これまで制作してきたオリジナルフォトグラムのモチーフ（花）はない。花の場合は透けた花弁の内側やシルエットが定着されるが、透明なモチーフのシルエットはなく、通過した光そのものが感光紙に定着することになる。太陽光はわずかな「ゆらぎ」に分光されて光の内側を表す。この現象を写真的な手法を使って感光紙に定着する。花のフォトグラムとは大きく異なる印象の「Spectrum」だが、これまで制作してきた作品の延長上にある。
“Lux” is the Latin word for light, and can refer to physical light or the light in a person’s heart that dispels darkness and fosters hope.
“Spectrum” comes from the Latin “specere”, to see, and originally means “what can be seen” or “what appears”. “Spectare” is something that appears without warning.
「spectrum」 is an image of captured light, and does not share the flower motif that permeates the other original photograms shown herein. For those flowers, unlike here, the underside and silhouettes of the see-through petals are fixed in place. Rather, the light itself that passes through that translucent motif is captured in the photosensitive paper. Using photographic techniques, this paper fixes the slight tremors of that underside of light which forms spectra. Though 「spectrum」varies greatly from the flower photograms, it is certainly an extension of previous works.
